1st Maryland Cavalry Company A & E participates in 8-10 reenactments and living history events per year. Our camp has a military look but is compromised with more civilians and canvas tents than would have been found during a campaign or cavalry raid.
Like many reenactment groups we feel the positives of family participation, teaching young people about history and the confidence they have from talking to others about what we do, far outweigh the negative of not being absolutely period correct. Everyone in camp MUST maintain our standard with regards to dress and behavior, as outlined in our by-laws and military and civilian standards of our unit.
